Give a Dog a Bone: Blogs About Pets and Toys

Hello world! My name is Mary, and my dog is my best friend. His name is Bandit, and he's a spunky little rescue. He hates to be left alone, and I'll admit that he once broke through a screen, walked several miles to where I was, and sat outside the cafe waiting for me. Since I work from home and don't go out often, I spend a lot of time with him. However, in most cases, owners would need to crate train their dogs in those situations. Anyway, wherever you are in your relationship with your dog, I hope you find what you need in this blog. It's going to be a mixture of fun tips, ideas, and facts. Enjoy!

How To Train Your Cat Not To Escape

Amber Knight

Your cat loves you, but your cat also has an almost insatiable desire to explore, chase birds, and do various other things that are natural. This would be fine if it weren't for all of the dangers that lurk outside that your cat would have to face. To avoid a trip to the vet, you will need to train your cat to not rush to the door in order to escape outside.

Have A Cat Exit Door

Only have your cat go through one door in order to get outside. Then, when you open a different door, your cat will not associate it with the outdoors and will be less likely to rush out it. When you open the door that is designated for letting your cat outside, make sure that your cat is on a leash or in a cat carrier so that you will be able to keep your cat from escaping.

Make Your Home Fun

Give your cat as many fun things to do as possible. One of the most common reasons why a cat tries to escape is because it is bored. If you fill your home with cat toys and places where your cat can climb, all of this will keep your cat from being bored by making the outdoors seem more boring.

Create A Hello And Goodbye Spot

Have an official hello and goodbye spot for your cat. This is a place where you pet your cat and give it a treat. Then, your cat will associate this location with something positive. Then, whenever you will be entering or leaving your home, do not interact with your cat until you have reached the hello and goodbye spot. Make sure that this spot is far away from the front door so that your cat will not be tempted to run to this spot. This trick can also be effective when training dogs that love to jump.

Install A Cat Fence

If you still cannot stop your cat from escaping, you may have no choice but to make it simply impossible for a cat to escape. Cat fences are designed with cats in mind and can prevent cats from scaling and escaping your fences. This allows your cat to spend some time outside without having an overwhelming desire to escape. Your cat will be able to enjoy the experience of being outdoors, and you will be there to help if your cat is ever in trouble.
